Healing with the resonance of tea

Becky English is an energy healer and quantum guide whose sound healing can be paired with a cup of tea.

Becky English was in her 20s when her mother passed away. Through grief she found “a form of spiritual healing”, and trained in the art to activate self-healing, says the founder of Soul Significance. It then became clear that what she was learning resonated beyond her own path. She trained in Reiki, and more recently Tesla Healing Metamorphosis, to hone her skills in guiding others.

“It took years experiencing and kind of feeling energy through the hands and playing with it on plants, on food, on people, to realise there was an outcome, a positive benefit to everything,” English (pictured) explains. “It’s natural within me, but it’s natural within everybody. Everybody has the ability to heal themselves and activate that – that’s something I’m passionate about, teaching people how.”

A session generally involves a client lying down and closing their eyes while English, without touching them, runs her hands up and down their body. Common effects are “tingling or buzzing … like there is an electric current, which is the energy passing through. They might feel heat and cool sensations. Some people, if I’m over their abdomen, their belly might start rumbling or, if I’m over their throat, they might start swallowing. I’ve had lots of people see lights and colours in their eyes.”

Reasons for booking a session vary but many people are looking for relaxation and calm, to alleviate pain, or to unlock creative energy, while others “want to open themselves up for personal and spiritual development,” English says. “They might get insights and some of their own wisdom and answers.”

She is also a quantum guide, a kind of master life coach, which incorporates skills from hypnotism and neuro-linguistic programming to brain integration training, covering emotional intelligence and personality profiling. Her clients turn to her for guidance on life changes, whether that’s healing past trauma, clearing the mind of distractions, or setting goals “to help everything align in our greater life”.

Tea fuels her work. “I always say, ‘My name’s Becky English. I’m English by name, English by nature – coming from the UK. And I do love my tea, and it has to be loose-leaf tea. I go everywhere with my flask for the events I do and the sound baths I do. I’ve always got tea around me.”

And that’s tea across the spectrum: green, black, oolong, whites, fruit teas and rooibos. Right now she’s interested in vintage teas and harbours “a secret fantasy of blending tea and wine”, though for the moment it’s mainly herbal for healing. “When we do events we always offer herbal teas. I work with a yoga facilitator and she grows butterfly pea tea. People love the alchemy of it changing colour.”

Additionally, one of her hypnosis programs encourages clients to drink green tea, and her two African grey parrots also partake – Archie in particular, she notes. “Tea is actually good for parrots. It shouldn’t be caffeinated, but there’s teas he does like, teas he doesn’t like. It has to be a certain temperature. And he really does guzzle it out of my cup.”
